I’m Going to Radiohead
June 12th, 2006
I was actually going to try not to see this show. It’s wicked sold out, the tickets are now too expensive, and I’ve seen Radiohead three times before. However, I have a paralysing fear of missing out on something good (particularly a concert), so I’ve caved to my impulsive nature and bought a ticket. I’ve justified this to myself in two ways.
First, I did a lot of freelance last month and a couple of hours of freelance equals one Radiohead ticket. Secondly, Ticketsnow.com has a deal where if you sign up and are approved for a credit card, they’ll take $100 off your order. And since I’m going solo to the show, $100 off the ticket basically makes it face value again. Which means only one hour of freelance now covers my ticket. And as an added bonus, The Black Keys are opening, which was my favorite performance my first year at Coachella.
From Pitchfork’s description of the show, it’s going to be great. I’ve seen them before at Grant Park in Chicago, Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, and at the Coachella Festival. But I’m particularly excited to see them in a smaller venue (4,000 seats) and hear the new songs, which make up nearly half of the show. If you’re not going to be attending one of Radiohead’s shows on this tour, it looks as if a few torrents and some photos are turning up on the web.

Tone: my friend just got back from Chitown; said that the Radiohead concert he saw was the best he’d ever been to – die hard fan, tho. You’ll have fun. peace/kC
