Mediabistro.com Design Party

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

This is an awfully tardy post, but some friends and I went to the MediaBistro/HOW Design party last week at The Apartment. It was a great event – socializing was encouraged, where "networking" wasn’t. That was a nice touch, since I hate talking to people who are trying to figure out what my agenda is [...]

FontAgent Pro 3 Doesn’t Suck

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

For a designer, font management is a necessary evil. It’s just not practical to have 5,000 fonts active in your System Folder. I know this, because I activated all 5,414 of my fonts when I first tried to use OS X’s built-in font manager – Font Book. It slowed my computer to such a crawl [...]

Life Lessions from “Cabin Fever”

Monday, April 18th, 2005

During a bout with insomnia this weekend, I caught the horror movie "Cabin Fever" on HBO. It’s interesting how something can be a bad movie, and a good horror movie at the same time. It was sufficiently scary for a 2am horror movie, and what it lacked in story it made up for in [...]

The Decemberists
The Fiery Furnaces
Will Oldham (special DJ set)
Broken Social Scene
The Go! Team
Four Tet
Magnolia Electric [...]

What of the iTunes phone?

Monday, April 4th, 2005

Notably absent from yesterday’s mac friendly phone options were the new (and future) offerings from Motorola. Most importantly, what folks are calling the "iTunes phone". Motorola and Apple haven’t provided many details of the future phone, and I haven’t been able to find a photo of the phone on the web (yet). But it’s likely [...]

Mac Friendly Phone Options

Sunday, April 3rd, 2005

My T68i is starting to act up a little bit (the buttons stick sometimes) so I’m looking at options to replace it sometime this year. I’m a Mac user, so it’s a necessity that I be able to use the new phone seamlessly with my Macintosh. When I bought the SonyEricsson T68i, it was one [...]
